Appalachian Trail Hike-Camp-Hike October 18-19, 2008
We had fun on this campout. It was pretty cold during the morning and night. There was a hornet's nest in our campsite. It was the size of a soccer ball. Jacob and Hari found a bullfrog in the creek behind the campsite. There were some geeks shoving some weird gadget in a cup of creek water and complaining that some blue light should be blinking. There was also a pool of baby newts. We camped at the Maupin Shelter and hiked the Mau-Har trail and went eight miles on it. We took a circular route down the Appalachian trail and returned to the Maupin Shelter. It was very rocky.
The hike was nice. There were lots of fall colors in the woods. We stopped at a scenic overlook with a view of the valley. The sun shone on a patch of yellow trees in the valley center and the trees glowed.
Overall, this was a great campout.
